Google Maps Navigation Back to News Top

Cowboy, the world's most connected e-bike, announced that from today, Cowboy riders will have access to new and improved in-app navigation experience thanks to the integration of the leading location and mapping solution – Google Maps Platform.

“To sustain the vision we have for our app and ride experience, it's critical that we work with the best and, when it comes to navigation, that's Google Maps Platform. By combining our experience with Google Maps Platform capabilities, we hope to achieve one mission – to improve the experience of urban cyclists.” – Tanguy Goretti, Cowboy Co-Founder & CTO

The update will be available for all Cowboy bikes, with iOs customers receiving the update today, with Android coming in the next couple of weeks.

Improved map navigation was the most requested update from within the Cowboy community. This latest innovation built with Google Maps Platform allows riders to select new bike-first routes whilst accessing complementary features such as their speed, as well as viewing battery life and calories burned within the Cowboy app.

Cowboy has always placed connectivity at the core of their user experience which is why in 2021 they were the first ebike manufacturer to build a wireless charging phone mount into its cockpit allowing always on access to the Cowboy app.

Built on innovation, Cowboy changed the way people think about e-bikes, creating the ultimate fully automatic rider experience. Cowboy's software expertise has enabled advances in safety and theft features with its Crash Detection and Anti-Theft Protection.

This latest announcement comes just two months after the company unveiled its AdaptivePower technology, which senses changes in the rider's environmental conditions and provides the right amount of power. Cowboy also unveiled a suite of new Spring colours, unlocking a broader customer base which led sales of their step-through model to surpass sales of step-over for the first time.

One of Time Magazine's Best Inventions of 2022, Cowboy's award-winning e-bikes seamlessly combine hardware and software. With over 50,000 bikes sold, their global community completes more than 1m rides per month, saving a combined total of 8.2m tonnes of CO₂ to date.
